Knowing Christ and Making Christ Known

Small Groups

It's in the small group setting that strong support and caring relationships grow. Five small groups meet on a regular basis. Meet our Small Groups:

Better Together
One of the ministries of this Small Group is an opportunity to eat together!  Plans are made to dine at a different area restaurant each month on the 4th Monday.  Persons wishing to participate sign up ahead of time. When the 4th Monday rolls around, the church bus pick up begins at 4:45.  If you don't want to eat home alone or if you don't drive after dark, this is the perfect ministry for you.  You may call the church office at 773-4183 to place your name on the reservation list.  Seating is limited....Sign-up early!

Elmer's Small Group
This Small Group chose their name because of the 'bonding' of the members.  They meet twice a month on Sunday evenings and rotate the location of the meeting, the leadership and the refreshments.  Their ministry is the establishment of the Hospitality Team.  They serve as host/hostess at the Welcome Center or as greeters on Sunday mornings.

Helping Hands
This Small Group has set their goal to help community people, especially seniors, that need a ride or help with tasks such as raking leaves, shoveling snow, washing windows, planting flowers, or any number of other tasks.  Anyone that night need a ride or have a task they need help with can contact the Helping Hands by calling 773-7360 and ask for Dave.

Son Shiners
This Small Group meets monthly in the homes of it's members.  They are repeating the study of the Purpose Driven Life.  Their mission projects include taking snacks to the Boys and Girls Club and taking a vase of flowers to each resident at LuAnn Nursing Home.

Thankful Patters
The Thankful Patters got their name when their very first ministry was giving members of the congregation a 'Pat on the Back.'  It was their way of saying thank you for giving to the Lord at the Nappanee United Methodist Church.  But they didn't stop there....They also provide snacks and cereal for the Nappanee Boys and Girls Club on a regular basis and they keep the pew pencils sharpened.  This summer they walked in the 4th of July parade to distribute postcards inviting persons to worship and provided water balloons for the Youth Backyard BBQ.  They more recently have volunteered to play cards and board games with the residents at Heritage House.

Olio Sojourners
The Olio (mixed group) Sojourners (temporary residents) meet on the third Tuesday, 6:30 pm, at Dick and Diana Smith's home.  The current study is on Heaven, using a book by Randy Alcorn.
